Nutrition and Women's Health

Women's health is influenced by a myriad of factors, including hormonal fluctuations, reproductive milestones, and lifestyle choices. Nutrition plays a critical role in supporting women's health across the lifespan, from adolescence and reproductive years to menopause and beyond. Understanding the unique nutritional needs and challenges faced by women is essential for promoting optimal health outcomes and addressing gender-specific health disparities. The Nutrition and Women’s Health special collection aims to address the nutritional needs and challenges faced by women at different life stages. By exploring the role of nutrition in reproductive health, pregnancy outcomes, and menopausal transition, we can develop targeted interventions that optimise women's health and well-being. We welcome submissions that address various aspects of women’s nutrition, including reproductive health, pregnancy, menopause, and chronic disease prevention, with a focus on understanding the unique nutritional needs and challenges faced by women. Types of Papers:
  • Research investigating the impact of maternal nutrition on foetal development and pregnancy outcomes.
  • Studies examining the association between dietary factors and women-specific health conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or osteoporosis.
  • Reviews summarising the evidence on dietary interventions for managing menopausal symptoms or preventing age-related health issues in women.
  • Population-based studies exploring dietary patterns and nutritional status among women from diverse socio-demographic backgrounds.
